From the Helm mountain restaurant, the trail leads gently to the Hahnspielhütte at 2,150 metres. Those who would like to go a little higher can make the detour to the summit of Helm at 2,434 metres. The short, steeper climb is well worth the effort: at the top, a spectacular 360° panorama stretches from the Großglockner and Großvenediger to the Sesto and Lienz Dolomites and the Carnic Ridge.
Back at the junction, the route continues with gentle ups and downs along the Carnic High Trail and the border ridge to the Sillianer Hütte on the Austrian side. A beautiful hike for anyone who loves wide-open views, spectacular panoramas and that special feeling of being in the mountains.
