Sustainable mobility

Travel by train to the Dolomites: Hotel Villa Stefania in San Candido is easy to reach by rail. We will be happy to pick you up free of charge from San Candido train station.

With the Südtirol Guest Pass, you can use buses and trains throughout South Tyrol free of charge and reach many hiking trails and destinations without a car.

Waste reduction

Reducing waste is our first step. Wherever possible, we avoid single-use products and unnecessary packaging. Waste that cannot be avoided is carefully separated and recycled.

Our guests can help too: reduce, reuse and recycle. Together, many small actions contribute to a more sustainable holiday in South Tyrol.

Local is our first choice

Local produce and sustainability go hand in hand for us. Most of the food for our breakfast and kitchen comes from producers and suppliers in South Tyrol and the surrounding area.

Some products even grow in our own fields: we grow our own potatoes and rye. Short distances reduce transport, support local businesses and allow us to know where the food we serve our guests comes from.

Let's discover the Dolomites together

Our favourite way to discover the Dolomites around San Candido is on foot, together with our guests. Our hotel shuttle regularly takes us to the starting points of our guided hikes – and in winter, we head out into nature on snowshoes.

We love choosing quiet trails and special places away from the well-known routes.

Water vitalisation

Throughout our hotel – from our drinking water to the indoor pool – we use the Grander water revitalisation system. The water passes through a special Grander device without the addition of chemicals. According to the Grander principle, this process is intended to support the water’s natural structure and stability.

In our indoor pool, we combine this system with modern water treatment technology while keeping the use of chlorine as low as possible. An efficient heat recovery system also helps us save valuable energy.

100% natural cosmetic products

In our SPA Littamum, we also draw inspiration from the Alpine landscape. For our massages and treatments, we use selected natural products featuring typical mountain ingredients such as arnica, mountain pine, silver fir and juniper.

Natural care combined with scents and essences reminiscent of the forests, meadows and mountains of the Dolomites.

Autochthonous woods

Wood is part of our Alpine heritage – and part of Hotel Villa Stefania too. For our interiors and renovations, we consciously choose local woods such as Swiss stone pine, larch and spruce.

Heating & hydropower

We also focus on more sustainable solutions for our energy supply. Hotel Villa Stefania is heated by the Dobbiaco–San Candido district heating network, where heat is generated mainly from biomass – particularly wood chips.

For our electricity, we rely on hydropower. And we are taking another step forward: in 2027, we will install a photovoltaic system on our hotel roof, allowing us to generate part of our electricity directly from solar energy.

Local craftsmen

For our renovation and refurbishment projects, we consciously choose craftspeople and companies from our region. Shorter travel distances reduce transport and the emissions associated with it.

At the same time, we keep value within our community: supporting local businesses, building long-term partnerships and working with people who know our region and its materials.
