Starting from Prato Piazza, the trail first crosses wide alpine meadows before climbing steadily towards the 2,839-metre summit of Dürrenstein. With every step, the views become wider until a spectacular panorama of the Dolomites unfolds at the top.
Once you reach the summit, take a moment to simply enjoy the view: to the south and west, Croda Rossa d’Ampezzo, Cristallo and the Tofane dominate the landscape, while to the east the view opens towards the Three Peaks and the Sesto Dolomites. Looking north, the panorama stretches across the Puster Valley towards the glaciated peaks of the main Alpine ridge. A summit where you will want to stay just a little longer.
